The cultivation of "Algae," on which MATSURI is based, can be done even in wastelands and deserts using the power of the sun (photosynthesis) to contribute to the global issue of carbon dioxide reduction, and is characterized by its extremely high resource efficiency. In addition, Algae, which produce a variety of organic matter, provides a new society not dependent on limited fossil resources and also provides valuable nutrients for healthy human beings.

Algae can use the power of the sun (photosynthesis) to contribute to the global challenge of reducing carbon dioxide emissions. Algae can grow even in wastelands and deserts, and is a very effective resource. It is often thought that algae cultivation requires large amounts of water, but in fact, it can be done with much less than in agriculture or livestock farming. This is because in agriculture, most of the water applied to the field percolates underground or evaporates, whereas in algae cultivation, only evaporation from the water surface occurs, minimizing losses.
With the use of finite freshwater resources becoming a social issue, algae that can grow in small amounts of freshwater can be used in environmentally sustainable projects for the future.

Since algae can be cultivated basically anywhere as long as there is water and light, it is possible to cultivate algae by effectively utilizing land that is difficult to use for agriculture or abandoned land, such as deserts and wastelands. In fact, large-scale commercial production of algae is being conducted in deserts, lava plateaus, and even in former salt fields. In the coming era, when stable food supply will become an issue, the fact that it does not compete with food production is an extremely important advantage.
